KINO BAY RV PARK is located at the end of Mar de Cortes road in New Kino. It is a large park with good washrooms and showers and a laundrymat. Many of the sites have a cement pad and a sunshade over the pad. There is power and water at the sites. The park does not have a pool but the beach is easy access across the road. Short term rates are a bit high listed Nov/08 as: (under 8 days = $21.50), (over 7 days = $18.50)
Cocherit beach is located just south of Guymas, Sonora. Follow the bypass and turn off at (27.96534, -110.76365) and follow the straight road right to the beach. We camped in a sandy parking area right next to the beautiful beach. There are several abandoned buildings that once catered to the beach crowds that no longer seem to come. We had a great happy hour with shrimp and clams and tequilla, at least thats what they tell me. Around midnight a car drove by us to the beach and a guitar played some lovely music for an hour or so.
11/12/08-11/15/08... Las Jaibas RV Park....Mazatlan.Satellite view
Las Jaibas RV park is located on the North end of Mazatlan across the road from the beach. It is a clean fairly new RV park with full hookups, laundry and wi-fi. Maria the manager speaks very good English and is most helpful with any needs you may have. Maria, says no pool because the ocean is just next door and no hot showers because who wants hot showers when it is so hot outside. The daily rate is $30 US bucks / night or $150 for a week. Good bus service right in front of the park every 15 minutes and only 8 pesos to downtown.
I would like to thank Moisheh who was following my webpage and came over to meet us while we were in Kino Bay for recommending the restaurant CASA COUNTRY in Mazatlan which we really enjoyed as you can see in some of these pictures.

Friday Nov14th we were going to drive the devils backbone. A beautiful but not for the faint of heart road that goes the south side of Mazatlan to Durango called highway 40. We climbed up into the jungle on a good paved road then we found the town of Copala and Daniel's Hotel and Restaurant and that is as far as we got. Daniel's place is built ontop of an old mine (the area is littered with mines) and the town and church (built in 1753 or so) are chock full of interesting history. Anyways.... we just ran out of time. We will try again on the way back to do the Devil's Backbone. Here are some photos below of the town of Copala.................Satellite view
