Ixtapa RV Park is a Fonatura run park. It is located at the very end of the hotel row in Ixtapa and is very secure. It is a parking lot style with full hookups including 30 amp service. It has excellent showers and bathrooms, a laundrymat and are in the process of building a very nice pool. There is beach access to a rocky beach and nearby small river. Good surfing. The only downside is the price. $30 US or $360 pesos. But they have the only show, the other parks listed in Church's in Ixtapa and Zihautanejo were closed or too difficult to get to even with a truck and camper.

Playa Piedra and turtle sanctuary is a great place to stay. It is free and right next to the beach and turtle sanctuary. The beach is long with heavy surf and boasts a small restaurant or 2. You can visit the sanctuary and see them collect the eggs, store them for 45 days and release the newly hatchlings. The people are very friendly here. The workers patrol the beaches for turtle nests all night and it is quite safe. Watch for the Piedra sign on Mex200 at Km 150 for the turnoff. It is a rough paved road with some low hanging branches..

We reach the outskirts of Acapulco Monday Dec. 8th
While Pilar was showing us the RV park, she introduced Maria (her very good cook) to us. Maria likes to cook traditional mexican food. Betty and Lynette mentioned that should Maria be interested, would Maria cook us such a dinner and we would invite everyone in the park. Well....as you can see from the photo's above, Maria was interested.....The spectactular dinner was produced and the photo's show a small portion of the results of this dinner.

I normally only use 4 photos for our campsites but this is an exceptional RV park and I am using 6 photos. Sol y Arena (sun and sand) RV Park is a hidden jewel! It is one of those parks you are always trying to find but never do. Well, we found it!!!!! Sol y Arena is owned by a lovely lady named Pilar. She has this beautiful RV park which she wants to keep small to preserve the open space and large parking spots. Each spacious spot has full hookups, a patio of blocks, a small refreshing pool and small sun shade. The park has a large communal palapa social area with kitchen, wi-fi internet, lots of palms and shade trees, several bungalows, a very nice swimming pool, a sandy play area with hammocks and a security gate to the beach. As of now there are several open spaces available and several under construction. The park is located on the West outskirts of Acapulco where it is nice and quiet, West of Playa Luces at Km 9.6.......... Visit Pilar's web site
