Betty and torch carrier, Cumberland's "Uncle Bob"

On October 10, my cousin, Lynne and her husband, Bob, put on a birthday party for me. My three children, Rick, Rob and Shelly were there along with their spouses, Donna, Joanne and Brent and 5 of my 8 grandchildren. It was wonderful to share the celebrations with long time friends, many cousins and my Aunt Stevie. On October 12, Larry and I drove up to Kamloops to winterize our pond and underground sprinkler system at our house up there. We spent 4 nights at our friends, John and Dawne Jamieson so on the day of my actual birthday I was able to sneak in a birthday lunch with two girl friends, (Janice Achilles and Cheryl Booth) and a lovely dinner out with John, Dawne and Jim and Phyllis Mead who had driven in from Shuswap Lake to help me celebrate. Larry and I returned to Cumberland on October 17, did a few things around the house and then returned to the mainland on October 23 in order to get ready to surprise my cousin Lynne, whose actual 65th birthday party was October 19 but her church friends and her husband, Bob, were giving her a big party at a church hall in New Westminster. Larry, I, my long time friend, Mary Fulton and Aunt Stevie dressed up in costumes and crashed that party. Mary and Lynne had started grade one together. No one had a clue as to who we were. We stayed in costumes for almost 2 hours before we fessed up. Larry was the grim reaper, Mary was the Nutty Professor, Stevie was Tweetie Bird and I was Sylvester. Stevie is 80 years old and was the hit of the party. Check out the legs in the photos.
We are now back in Cumberland and hopefully will stay put for a few months. We decided not to travel south this winter, a bit of a shock as we have been away for the winter every year except one year since 1995. We just want to enjoy our new home and get a few things done around here.
